Domaine Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet

Burgundy
Côte de Nuits

Domaine Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet was established by Alain Burguet in 1974 when he bought his first vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. Soon after, he gained a special status in the village as someone who was not only passionate and determined for the best quality of grapes, but followed his passion by determination and hard work in the vineyards, keeping yields very low, planting with high concentration of 10,000 vines per hectare, and using no herbicides or other chemicals in the vineyards. His philosophy was to pick the grapes not according to the sugar and acidity levels, but following the maturity of the tannins in the grapes’ skins – and to make wines, which are true to their respective terroirs.

Nowadays, Alain’s sons Eric and Jean-Luc are in charge of the vineyards and the winemaking, but the style of the wines remain unchanged.

The jewel in the crown of Alain Burguet’s vineyard holdings is his 0.27 ha holding of Chambertin Clos de Beze planted in 1955, with excellent holdings in Champeaux 1er Cru and few Lieu Dit Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards, most of them with old vines.
