Les Jardins d’Edina
France
Les Jardins d’Édina is an interesting Bordeaux red created by Olivier Rivière, a winemaker who spent years working in Spain before returning to Bordeaux to launch his own project in 2022. Produced in the Côtes de Bourg appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, the wine showcases Merlot and reflects a more natural, hands-on approach to winemaking, with organically farmed grapes and minimal intervention. The focus is on expressing the character of the fruit and the freshness of the wine, rather than relying on heavy oak or an overly powerful style.
On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe cherries, black plums and red berries, complemented by subtle floral notes and a hint of spice. The palate is smooth and lively, with juicy fruit, gentle tannins and a refreshing finish. Compared with more traditional, structured Bordeaux reds, Les Jardins d’Édina feels approachable and expressive while still maintaining a sense of elegance and regional character. It would pair nicely with grilled meats, roast lamb, duck or a selection of mature cheeses. For the best drinking experience, serve it slightly cool, around 15–16°C, and allow it to breathe for about 30 minutes before enjoying.
