Côte de Beaune
Domaine Launay-Horiot is a historic family estate based in Pommard, in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, France. With rootsdating back to the late 18th century, the domaine is now managed by Xavier Horiot, whose remarkable journey fromfighter pilot in the French Air Force to winemaker has become an integral part of its story. After a lengthy familyinheritance dispute, Xavier succeeded in preserving approximately four hectares of the original estate and beganproducing wines under the domaine’s name with the 2014 vintage.
Despite its relatively small size, Domaine Launay-Horiot possesses an exceptional portfolio of vineyards. Its holdingsinclude Pommard Les Perrières, known for its old vines, three Premier Cru parcels—Les Rugiens-Bas, Les Chaponnièresand Clos Blanc—and two prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin: Chambertin and Latricières-Chambertin. These highly sought-after appellations give the domaine the potential to produce wines of considerabledepth, complexity and individuality.

Xavier’s winemaking philosophy focuses on expressing the character of each vineyard through careful viticulture, controlled extraction and judicious oak ageing. The resulting Pinot Noir wines have attracted attention from Burgundyspecialists for their freshness, finesse, fine tannins and elegant structure, offering a refined expression of Pommardalongside the complexity and distinction of the Grand Crus.

Domaine Launay-Horiot is particularly interesting because it combines a dramatic family history with some remarkablevineyard holdings and a relatively recent winemaking revival. For Burgundy enthusiasts, it represents a small, distinctiveproducer whose wines offer an opportunity to explore the individuality of several prestigious appellations through thevision of a determined and passionate winemaker.
